I came across this prayer on Twitter last night, it was printed on the back of an old holy card. It struck me as such a lovely prayer to place in a frame and display in my home that I decided to design a simple little card for it and share it with you too. The language may be a little old-fashioned for some, but that’s part of the charm…the sentiments are valid and Our Lady surely does desire to protect us from these concerns.
I made three sizes, the smallest is an image file so it can be printed Wallet size or larger…the largest is a more suitable size for framing if that’s what you wish to do.
First, here’s the prayer typed below then for those that would like a decorative printed copy, I’ve added the files at the bottom. For the small image, just right click on the picture displayed on the right, click “Save picture as”; choose the location on your computer to save it, then click the “Save” button.
Our Lady of this House
O sweet and gentle Lady, Immaculate Mother of God, we choose Thee this day to be the Mistress and Lady of this house.
Guard it, dear Mother from pestilence, fire, lightning, and tempests; from schisms and heresies, from depredations of burglars and the malice of enemies.
Protect its inmates, sweet Mary; watch over their going out and their coming in, and preserve them from sudden death.
Keep us from all sin and harm, and pray for us to God, that we may live in His service and depart this life in His grace. Amen.
